What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

We do not believe that people should be afraid to provide honest commentary and as such, we will not use your email address from the comments form to use in a newsletter list, email list or marketing email list. Should you wish to join these lists, please use this form. We may from time to time reach out in a personal email to better understand your comment. We never sell email addresses to third parties.

Media

In most cases, users are not allowed to upload images or other media to the website. This is to prevent unintentional copyright issues and to protect our users. If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

Contact forms are used to collect information from you to assist us in helping you out. The form may ask for your name, email address, telephone number and related personal information, which is then emailed to us. This information – especially your email address – will be retained only as long as required for us to address your needs. This may therefore necessitate you to resubmit the information more than once.

Where a subscription or other digital product is purchased, this information will be retained for the duration of the contract. Thereafter, the information will be deleted.

Should you elect to join our mailing list, then the correct option will have to be set on our forms. At such a point, your information, such as your email address, will be transferred to our mailing database. You may unsubscribe at any stage, which will also cause the system to remove your contact information.

Email addresses provided in contact forms will therefore not be used by Straight Fire Life for any other purpose than to respond to your query, unless you specifically ask to be put on a mailing list. In all cases, your information will not be sold to 3rd parties for any purpose.
